Pastoral Care

The class tutor closely monitors the progress of each child. We keep in close contact with parents, communicating daily through the diary system. Our day starts at 8.30am with morning devotions and ends at 3.30pm on Monday- Thursday and at 3.00 pm on Fridays. The children have a nap after lunch and the afternoon activity. Other activities in the Kindergarten include Ballet, Swimming, P.E., Monkeynastix, Horse riding, LAMDA (Age 5+), Piano and Guitar lessons (Age 5+), Cookery and ICT.

Meals

The children bring in a healthy snack to eat at 10am.We provide warm milk for them at 10.00am and hot chocolate at 3.00pm before they leave school. The children have school lunch together, assisted by the teachers and a menu is provided at the start of term for the parents to know what we eat at school. We encourage the children to display good table manners and to tidy up after meals.

Progress Reports

Reports are given at the end of each term and Parents’ and Teachers’ Consultation Meetings are held in the January Term. However, parents are free to come in and speak to the class tutor to enquire about their child’s progress.

Areas of learning in Kindergarten

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Children learn to be self-confident, take an interest in the environment, know what their needs are, tell the difference between right and wrong and become self reliant.

Communication, Language and Literacy

Children learn to communicate confidently and clearly, enjoying stories, songs and poems, hear and say sounds, and link them to the alphabet.

Mathematical Development

Children learn to develop an understanding of Numbers through stories, songs, games and imaginative play. They become comfortable with numbers and are aware of shapes and space.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World

Children explore and find out about the world around them, asking questions about it. They build with different materials. They also know about everyday technology and learn what its uses are.

Physical Development

Children learn to move confidently, controlling their body and handling equipment.

Creative Development

Children explore colours and shapes. They engage in dance, role play, making things, telling stories and making music.

Spiritual Development

Every term we explore a theme that runs across the entire school. The children learn Bible truths and virtues relating to the theme and this develops their spiritual growth. Each day begins with devotion and a collective Bible assembly every Tuesday.
